The Hague, the Netherlands, a City of peace and justice, is hosting the UNICRI Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. The Centre is committed to advancing understanding of artificial intelligence and robotics from the perspective of crime prevention, justice and security and to exploring their use for social good in a manner consistent with human rights, with the final aim of contributing to a future free of violence and crime.

On the occasion of the establishment of the Centre in 2017 Saskia Bruines, Deputy Mayor said: "In The Hague, we want to use our position as a city of peace and justice to stimulate the further development of the law. So that together, we can work towards creating a world of equal rights and equal opportunities.”

In the words of Irakli Beridze: "We believe we can live in a world free of preventable crimes and violence. We exist to tap into the potential of AI to make this belief a reality.”
