On 31 March 2022, in Tripoli, we celebrated the homecoming of several Libyan priceless cultural artifacts. The event represented an important first step in Libya’s recovery of assets illegally removed from the country.

On 21-22 March 2022, the 15th Round-Table Meeting (RTM) for the Central Asia region took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), within the framework of the European Union (EU) Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Centres of Excellence Initiative (CoE).

After the successful meetings with authorities of Lao PDR, UNICRI continued its in-country missions to CONTACT Southeast Asia’s partner countries by traveling to Phnom Penh, capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Within this context and in the framework of the CONTACT SEA project, on 21-22 March 2022, UNICRI held a 2-day workshop with Cambodian authorities in charge of combating illicit trafficking of radiological and nuclear (RN) material.

On 17-18 March 2022, UNICRI traveled to Vientiane for a workshop with Lao People's Democratic Republic’s authorities in charge of combating the trafficking of radiological and nuclear (RN) material. The workshop was conducted within the framework of the project “CONTACT – Enhancing capacities to prevent the trafficking of radiological and nuclear material in Southeast Asia”.

The Secretary-General’s Call to Action for Human Rights just turned two. Much progress has been made to translate the vision and core principles of the C2A–primarily, the centrality of human rights, to the entire UN system–into tangible action.

Ms. Antonia Marie De Meo, Director of UNICRI, and Mr. Albrecht Freiherr von Böselager, Grand Chancellor and Foreign Minister of the Sovereign Order of Malta, signed an agreement between the two organizations to strengthen cooperation in the field of crime prevention and international justice.

This agreement lays the foundation for the design and implementation of training programmes in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice as well as for joint activities to respond to crises and emergences.
